SHARE: Conversation about Contemporary Architecture
This new book from Saunders + Artifice Press presents a collection of conversations between architects that goes behind the scenes of the creative process to offer a refreshingly frank perspective on everyday practice.
Saunders + Artifice Press is delighted to announce the release of SHARE: Conversations About Contemporary Architecture – The Nordic Countries, a beautifully presented book that explores architects’ hopes, fears and aspirations, as well as the real-world challenges of running a modern practice; all aspects of the architectural process that tend to be glossed over in conventional monographs.
The Nordic Countries edition is the first in a series of candid conversations between Canadian architect Todd Saunders and 30 of the region’s most celebrated architects, such as Bjarke Ingels of BIG and Louis Becker of Henning Larsen. Conceived of by Saunders, the book features 99 questions about architectural practice addressed to leading contemporary architects from Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland.
SHARE is the perfect guide for any aspiring architect; by asking questions, it opens up the often insular world of architectural practice. As Saunders says: “We are architects all the time, whether at the dinner table, in the queue at the grocery store, driving on the highway, or lying in bed at night. By asking questions about what matters and why, I hope this book starts a conversation about the processes behind architecture, and how different outlooks translate into the work that we do and the way we achieve it.”
The Nordic countries edition of SHARE will be followed by companion volumes that explore the work of architects in North America, Europe, and the Far East.
