Saunders Architecture

Brakke House

This project was the result of good-will and enthusiasm on the part of a small group of architecture and interior architecture students. It´s intention was to protest against exorbitant student housing in Bergen. Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen designed these 3 temporary housing units and then helped build them in the centre of Bergen with students and other volunteers. Three of the students lived there for a 3 month period. One room exhibited alternative urban housing ideas which created a lot of publicity in the Norwegian newspapers that stimulated a debate on the topic of urban housing ideas.
